Las civilizaciones aztecas, posteriormente convertidas en mexicas, y las mayas rendían culto a deidades aún mayores que, según ellos y sus creencias, los proveían de vida, fuerza, hasta energía solar y la lluvia.
La espiritualidad del único ser
En discrepancia con el párrafo anterior, uno de los rasgos más característicos de estas culturas es que sus creencias no estaban ciertamente cimentadas en una religión o culto, si no que eran diversas los grupos de creencias y mitos que convergían en sí mismas en un aura de completa espiritualidad.
Si bien, los pueblos mexicas y mayas realizaban diversos rituales y hasta sacrificios humanos en honor a sus deidades, las bases de la toltequidad están arraigadas en un concepto más intrapersonal, de completo poderío mental y espiritual.
Es este concepto de la divinidad del ser el que Porter busca plasmar a lo largo de todo el Moctezuma (2015), un discurso de toltequidad no solo a nivel colectivo, también a lo íntimo mentalmente hablando.

Está claro que la forma de aprender de cada persona es diferente, algunos aprenden leyendo, otros observando y algunos otros a través de la constante práctica. Sin embargo, la música y el recurso sonoro se hace presente en todos lados. Es así como Porter actúa, y lleva esta conversación ancestral a un plano accesible para el oyente promedio: La música.
Bien dicen algunos que la música es lenguaje universal, independiente del idioma o lengua en que la lírica de la pieza esté, y considero esta afirmación cierta. Ahora teniendo plasmadas las ideas y enseñanzas de los pueblos mexicas y mayas en un álbum, la tarea de compartir y preservar la escuela tolteca es aún más sencilla, tanto para impartirla como para recibirla y comprenderla.
Y qué mejor que una banda ya establecida en nuestro país como lo fuese Porter en aquel entonces; un proyecto tapatío que siempre osaba de experimental y hasta era denominado como “raro” por la previa excentricidad de Juan Son, pero a su salida y a la nueva incorporación de David Velasco, el grupo tendría una mexicanización más abrupta, cambiando radical y exitosamente el concepto de la banda en sí.
Fue así como en 2015 con la salida del Moctezuma (2015) los fanáticos y los que descubrirían a la banda con este material conocieron un poco más la historia de los pueblos prehispánicos, porque desde la educación básica se nos enseña, pero no de forma tan abierta y profunda como debería, y digo debería porque considero una necesidad básica de cualquier persona y colectivo conocer sus pasos previos.
Conforme pasó el tiempo, el legado y bagaje cultural de Porter y de este trabajo discográfico fue creciendo exponencialmente por todo México y posteriormente a todo el antiguo territorio del Anáhuac, que comprendía desde nuestro país hasta regiones del norte de Colombia y Venezuela, creando un discurso que no conoció fronteras, pues en todos esos países, aún quedan restos de civilizaciones que compartían similitudes con los mayas o mexicas.
La traducción a nuestros tiempos
Sabemos que la toltequidad es una filosofía de ser uno con el cosmos, de estar en paz y de conocer las virtudes y fortalezas de uno mismo; arropar las costumbres mexicas no significa que volveremos a sacrificar humanos para la llegada del Sol al día siguiente, más bien es una invitación a observar el mundo desde otra perspectiva, una perspectiva más apegada al lado espiritual y filosófico.
Decía Frank Díaz (2000) que la toltequidad era una forma de vida, una manera más humana de percibir el mundo no solo material, si no cósmico también.
