DRIMS estrena su álbum debut, «En Medio del Jardín»

DRIMS acaparó todos los reflectores por los finales del 2018 y principios de 2019, cuando el algoritmo de YouTube jugó a su favor y comenzó a recomendar Todas Las Chicas, además del buen recibimiento que tuvo Amanecer. Desde allí, la carrera de la joven agrupación de Monterrey no ha hecho más que ir hacia arriba. Lo que llamó rápidamente la atención del público y los medios fue un sonido bañado en ciertos elementos que componen al dream-pop, mismos con los que la banda experimentaría con el paso del tiempo.

Pasaron los años, los chicos iban poco a poco llegando a nuevos oyentes jóvenes, presentándose en foros a la largo y ancho del país, hasta formarían parte de diversos festivales de renombre en México. Sacaron un par de sencillos y hasta un EP, DEMOS (2018), pero fue hasta apenas hace un par de días que fue lanzado su disco debut.

La evolución de la banda

En Medio Del Jardín (2021) recoge todo lo aprendido durante estos cinco años que ha estado activa la banda, y los ejecuta de una manera brillante. La producción de este álbum estuvo bajo la tutela de Universal Music México.

En una reciente entrevista, uno de los integrantes mencionó que este álbum serviría para que los fans vieran la evolución que ha tenido el proyecto. Si bien, las canciones mantienen esa esencia juvenil que los caracterizó en sus inicios, logran mantener esto intacto, entrando en nuevos horizontes, esto refiriéndome a lo sonoro, donde hacen más hincapié en el dream-pop, pero en la rama más digerible y accesible del género.

El compilado de diez canciones resultan en cierto modo con una carga nostálgica, más que anteriores trabajos de DRIMS; desde acá se nota bastante el empeño de los regios por querer mostrar un sentimiento jovial y real, con el que la mayoría de sus fans jóvenes -que supongo es el target indicado- pueda identificarse fácilmente.

Una estética bien cuidada

Uno pensaría que siendo ya parte de una discográfica transnacional, el estilo de DRIMS podría dañarse, pero afortunadamente no es así. La identidad canónica de la agrupación sigue intacta, mostrando una mejora vocal e instrumental.

En Medio Del Jardín (2021) resulta un ejercicio bastante natural y orgánico, donde, a leguas, se nota que no hubo intervención de terceros en el proceso creativo de la banda, y esto se agradece. Podríamos decir que la estética y estilo de DRIMS siguen siendo los mismos, pero ahora más pulcras, más pulidas y definidas.

Finalmente resulta a un disco muy agradable al oído; teclados, vocales y guitarras suaves, una temática simple pero bien abordada y una estética minimalista y arraigada al dream-pop convergen en este material que funciona de maravilla como debut de DRIMS, un debut que ya hacía falta, y que afortunadamente se dio de una buena manera.
