«Madre», el nuevo y extenso EP de Arca

Arca despidió el 2020 con un álbum que contenía 100 remixes de Riquiquí, y esto no es sorpresivo, pues la venezolana nos tiene acostumbrados a lanzamientos así de extraños pero que a la vez alimentan su cada vez más creciente concepto «mutante».

Lo anterior pudimos confirmarlo en su sexto álbum, «KiCk i» (2020), que suena como si fuese un álbum debut, hasta podríamos decir que es el inicio de una nueva era de Arca. Merece su propia nota, ¿no? Hasta previamente el lanzamiento de el disco ya mencionado, «@@@@@» (2020) fue lanzado, un sencillo con 62 minutos de duración, no estimando en limitaciones temporales.

Para dar una merecida bienvenida a este nuevo año, la ahora residente española publicó hace un par de días un nuevo EP de cuatro canciones, «Madre» (2021), donde todas las canciones componen el resultado final de esta entrega.

La canción homónima del EP abre el material con una colaboración de Oliver Coates, violonchelista que ha trabajado junto a Radiohead. Arca afirmó haber escrito este tema hace años, el cual le mostró a Coates y fue así como nació el segundo track, «Madreviolo«, llenándola de resonancia y un sonido más apegado a la electrónica experimental. En el caso de este sencillo, Arca tocó el chelo, que fue comprado exclusivamente para este tema y que al terminar la grabación fue destruido.

Posteriormente entra «Madre Acapella«, que es la misma pieza pero solamente con la voz de Arca, creando un sentimiento de desolación, incertidumbre y vacío. El cuarto track, «Violo«, es la versión del mismo tema pero completamente acústico, donde solo el violonchelo entra a escena y juega con la sonoridad caótica que todo el EP forma en sí mismo.

«Madre» (2021) representa un canto catártico, donde Arca se encuentra consigo misma en un cuarto desolado y frío, un ambiente hostil y caótico invade esta habitación, acompañado de un sentimiento tétrico que el violonchelo le agrega a la mezcla. Este EP es una proyección del poder y talento de la venezolana, de su nula limitación del tiempo y una viva expresión de cómo dejarse llevar para crear atmósferas cautivadoras.

La experimentación es la clave del trabajo tan pulcro y llamativo de Arca, una experimentación que puede resultar bastante rara si es la primera vez que se le escucha, pero al ir entrando en su mundo, en el universo que ella misma plantea sobre su arte, nos damos cuenta del enorme potencial y la hermosa experiencia que esto significa.
