Entrevista con Miguel Rivero, el futuro de la producción urbana

Platicando con un par de conocidos con proyectos musicales de distintos géneros, me di cuenta de un rol fundamental dentro de la creación de una canción, un papel que casi siempre pasa a segundo plano; como ellos me lo dijeron: «El productor es otro miembro de la banda«, y es que sí, es quien mezcla, masteriza y arregla todo el sonido de la canción.

Lo anterior me llevó a interesarme por el mundo de la producción, donde conocí a Miguel Rivero, una joven promesa dentro de este ámbito con ya cuatro años en el juego, aunque más que llamarle productor, me gustaría comenzar a llamarlo como lo que es: Un artista.

«Desde una edad muy pequeña tenía muchos amigos grabando sus canciones, pero nunca vi a alguien detrás haciendo la música, haciendo las instrumentales. Yo comencé curioseando en internet y allí fue cuando empecé con lo de beatmaker aprendiendo yo solo por tutoriales de Youtube«, menciona Rivero sobre sus comienzos en este arte de la producción, quién además nos cuenta que «siempre he sido autodidacta, nunca he ido a una escuela para aprender esto«.

Sus influencias a la hora de crear instrumentales son claras, refiriéndose a exponentes del urbano contemporáneo: «Ahorita me estoy influenciando mucho de Tainy, quien ha trabajado con artistas enormes como Bad Bunny, J Balvin. Quiero ponerlo, más que como productor, como artista también.»

Muchos trappers y reggaetoneros ya están poniendo a sus productores como artistas en sus canciones. Es decir, en alguna canción, además de aparecer el cantante, también aparece el nombre del productor, dándole el crédito merecido a este segundo artista: «Siento que es un 50/50, tiene que haber voz y música; se complementan, por eso creo que hay que darle el mismo reconocimiento al productor, como un artista más.»

«Yo empecé a hacer música a los 18 años acá en el Estado de México, y fíjate que nosotros tenemos la ventaja de vivir cerca de la capital, y la mayoría de disqueras tiene sus sedes acá, y la gran parte de contactos están aquí» comenta Miguel sobre la centralización de la industria musical en la Ciudad de México, pues más que ser un impedimento, resulta un trampolín para él.

Rivero ha trabajado con un gran número de artistas principalmente del género urbano, pero me sorprendió bastante ver un trabajo en colaboración con Herencia de Patrones, un conjunto de corridos que actualmente acaparan el mercado del género: «Además de ser productor, soy ingeniero en audio. He grabado infinidad de géneros, y un día trabajando en La Bestia Récords llama Rancho Humilde para masterizar una canción en especial. Fue una casualidad, pero también mi debut en ese género, que me abrió las puertas en este estilo«, dice Miguel, quien además nos muestra su deseo por expandir sus horizontes y no quedarse en una sola rama: «No me quiero encerrar solamente en el género urbano«.

Hablamos también de sus propósitos, de sus metas como artista: «Mi tirada es darme a conocer dentro de la escena mexicana, tener un nombre y perfil de artista en el país.» Uno de los sueños y propósitos más grandes de Rivero es ampliar el conocimiento público sobre el productor: «Quiero que la gente comience a ver al productor como otro artista dentro de la composición«.

«La tecnología ha jugado a mi favor, creo que ahorita es más fácil contactar con artistas de otros países con un simple DM de Instagram. Justamente así he conseguido trabajar con gente extranjera, y es lo que busco, importar mi trabajo a otros lugares.»

«Miguel Rivero es una persona muy creativa, muy dedicada y disciplinada, pero debemos de ponerle atención, porque tiene intenciones de cambiar la visión de la música en México», comentó sobre sí mismo.

La producción dentro de la composición sonora es fundamental, porque, como dijo Rivero, es un 50/50: sin productor no hay música y sin cantante no hay letra, además de todas las personas que hay detrás del estudio. Este ejercicio abre la reflexión para contemplar a todas aquellas personas que trabajan para que una canción llegue a nuestros audífonos. Es momento de darle nombre a todos esos artistas del beat, porque también son artistas, y unos muy importantes para el desarrollo de la industria musical.
